No mention in the post-game about Thomas DNP that I heard. Felt like he could have absorbed some minutes and fouls.
Meta needs to be locked in a room with nothing but a Playstation 5 or maybe a VR headset. I refuse to believe his hand-eye coordination can still be like this. He probably could have had 10 more points and given back 5 assists. Jaquan is going to learn you can't pass him the ball.
I think at least one of those fouls on Almar was actually on Meta. Wardle called for someone to go get Meta, then they called it on Al, and had to put Meta back in immediately.
Almar looked confident offensively. A couple really good drives to the hoop. He got mugged a few times while holding the ball and needs to do a better job of not making fouls obvious. He was out of position a few times and then would body a guy to get called for a foul.
CD was offensively lost but contributed. Zek finally got mad in the second half and decided to do it himself. Jaquan would have had a better stat line if Meta could catch the damn ball.
Duke back to being Duke. Hannah seemed quiet all game, especially on defense, but got his points.

Duke and Hannah played better….
Liked our rebounding ….
The turnovers just have to be fixed….. like someone said we hold em to 60 if not for 18 for 18 of em….. and I’d like to see how many or really forced. It’s just sloppy lazy passes……
UTSA does like a little halter skelter And that can be tough to adjust to but we Still have to value the ball.
Meta just fumbled another bully dish…..
Atllason reminds me of Crouch 1/2 though his jr year when he decided he could get to the rack. Almar started that last year and it’s only getting better.
I think the no Thomas was simply a matchup problem as they were a Little beefy but I think Mets gets gassed in the second half of games . That’s twice he has had good first half’s then declined In the second.

They should match up with us. Not yellling at you DRU. Just something I hate that this staff does all the time.

I wonder if the reasoning was actually to give Almar a break to not let their big bully him, because he probably had 50 pounds on him. Last season we would have just let Almar get whomped on by a guy that size to protect Darius, and Almar needs his own protection now because we need his offense. I would hope Thomas could also defend that guy.

My take is the Thomas sat as a lesson, this staff loves that mind game. If you want to play, you need to work harder. And I say that without any knowledge of anything other than past examples. I hope he can find his way back on the court soon, because they are going to need him, as well as Burch...in a big way.

I agree cat……..to me it was a Size decision.
And when I mentioned matchup that’s what I was alluding too….. size more then style.
I find it hard to believe it was a message ( possibly ) considering Thomas came off a game where he for all the Minutes at the 5.

Maybe Thomas would have struggled a few times. But he also would have dunked three balls that were handed to Meta on a platter that he either fumbled or missed.

I do agree that he would have helped offensively…… at least toss him in a few minutes and see what you have…… Stone hands cost us 6-8 points …… I fairness his hands bad around basket ….. others had bad passes …. Lazy…..telegraphed ….. just not smart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree with you, but after hearing about how Meta was going to play a lot based on "matchups," that was my speculation as to why. Perhaps Thomas (just like the last Thomas) was in the Wardle doghouse already? Otherwise it's like you said, and we're back to a "smartest guys in the room" situation, when from out here it looks crazy to give all those minutes to Meta. Also, Jaquan's mom was losing her mind over how many assists he lost getting the ball into Meta.

We're probably getting pretty close to the territory where Almar is going to get 1-2 fouls per game on reputation alone. But as long as he gets the lines like against SEMO and UTSA before he fouls out, then the fouls are just expendable entities.

It’s hilarious that Meta can’t catch and has no offensive game yet we literally run plays for him and he took eight shots last night.
Jerry Jones and Zeke Elliott think Meta plays too much.

I'm okay with the coaching staff giving Meta these reps in a blowout game in November. For better or worse, there is just not much depth at that position and the guy needs real game minutes to get better. He's going to need to be relied on to give solid minutes this year. I also hope they have DB rifling passes at him in practice for an hour straight everyday.

Meta 3-8 , 5 boards 1 turnover Davis 1-5 , 7 boards 3 turnover Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yeah, but Meta's misses were from 1 foot next to the basket. Thomas took some 3s. Also, we need to create a new stat like "Braves Assists" and call it "Braves Turnovers," where the turnover is actually your fault even though it's not counted that way. Meta had numerous.

Yeah, seems odd that Thomas couldn't have gotten even a few of Meta's 20 minutes. Who knows.
