Should be plenty of minutes for the newcomers in this one. Millikin is a pretty bad D3 basketball program.
Really looking forward to seeing what Bully and Timo can do in their first college action...hoping that Almar and Demarion both look like they are ready to take a big step forward in their second year of action...

Neither Bully or Timo looked good at the red n white but as we all know that means nothing …… Timo looked good in drills was very bouncy…. Good handles and sweet looking shot. It just didn’t carryover to scrimmage again FWIW. Looks like Almar is going to be used just like he was last year…. But man he looked good at R n W slimmed down…. Stronger and he was really vocal…. Looked confident. Think he’ll have a great year. Im excited about seeing first game action but really looking forward to the newer , cleaner , brighter PCC!!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bradley 80 - Millikin 63
Listened on the radio (Might be time to start looking for a Snell replacement)
Sounded like we started off hot, with everything clicking on both offense and defense. And then things went off the rails as they started hitting 3’s, we had turnovers, and we got outplayed a bit. Outscored in the 2nd half.
Deen leads BU with 14. Atlason and Burch with 10 a piece.
My very basic opinions: Deen will be good. We miss Hannah. Thomas has a higher ceiling than I thought but needs work. Meta is better. Zek is good. Davis will be a glue-guy. Atlason will take the biggest step forward. Burch is fine. Johnson needs seasoning. Linke, Hardtke, Goanar, Dillon, Van Der Knaap look like the end of the bench. Defense needs work.
I’ll let the folks who were there elaborate - but sounds like some good and some bad. At the end of the day this is a Wardle-coached team, so I think a lot will be addressed.

Bradley 80 - Millikin 63 Listened on the radio (Might be time to start looking for a Snell replacement) Snell is 70 years old and has been doing the same job for over 45 years. Anybody that age, who's been doing the same job since age 24, is bound to get tired, stale, and begin just going through the motions. Not to mention there could be health and/or memory issues developing at that age. I would hope Bradley has a plan in place to transition soon to protect his dignity and legacy.

Not diminishing his previous work - he’s been a Bradley legend for decades. It just becomes very hard to follow with the mental lapses and missing context. Couldn’t follow several plays tonight. He said “Corey Dillon” about ten times. Jaquan “Jackson”, couldn’t remember coach Mike Black’s name… just time to start thinking about successors.

I was there. Spent a decent amount of time wrangling my two year old at his first game (his highlights were the high five line, dippin dots, and "batman" aka Kaboom, if you want his take), but from what I saw, in no particular order:
1. Other people in my family were impressed with Thomas. I was pretty "meh" on him. He had some flashes, but his offensive post game did not impress me and he passed up a couple post shots just like he did at scrimmage. Needs work.
2. Got exactly what we expected out of Zek and Deen. They will be good.
3. CD just did not have a good game. He (and others) just putting up bricks all over the place. Wardle admitted he didn't have his best game.
4. Almar and Burch look like they spent all summer lifting. Both looked good. Almar looks a lot more confident. Had a nice drive to the basket that I don't think he would have made last year.
5. Meta had a couple good offensive possessions mixed in with the usual. He looked better overall but not some leap that people expect.
6. Johnson will be good eventually, I just don't see it happening this year. He's tough and strong as hell, but I don't think the minutes will be there.
7. Timo looked lost. Definitely needs development.
8. Dillon didn't do much at all. Wardle said he's still recovering from something. Missed a few 3s was all I recall.
9. The rest of the back of the bench got minutes, but nothing too out of the ordinary there (Goanar trying to pump up the crowd when he hit a FT after bricking the first three was something).
Overall, it was an exhibition. We came out hot, then started rotating guys in and slowed down a lot. They got hot from 3 in the second half. Lots of weird lineups I'm sure we won't see again until blowout garbage time. Missed a ton of wide open shos and Wardle was again talking about how they always start off shooting cold because they don't practice enough here.

Yes, everything was working in the first half moving the ball well hitting shots, good defense and then came the second half. 19-2
The first half ended with a Milliken player launching a 40 foot desperation three that banked in……
I don’t know if that shot inspired them but in the second half everything they threw up went in ….BU just threw up . Wardle was NOT happy. A lot of very poor defense……very ugly second half.
It’s hard to get much out of these type of games somewhat like the red and white . Guys are getting minutes they’ll never get in regular season, which is good, but the flow of the game other aspects take quite a hit.
Burch was explosive, Thomas has potential but he’s going to need to be stronger around the basket. Meta had his moments but still gets lost on defense ….
Bully had a few nice dimes…..Atlason hit from outside and when that dried up took it strong to the hoop. Deen solid….
Connor Dillion gave us nothing ….. after he was 0-3 from deep why not try Timo who got no minutes.
We need Hannah……
As far as the PCC….. must have spent all the money on upgrades and have none Left for heat. Place was freaking cold and I like cold. The scoreboard is nice but turn down the pumped in music. It was ridiculously loud…. And yeah get off my lawn.
They also had IN on the bathroom doors by the sinks which created people leaving through the in doors and the out doors were not marked…..

Carver was freezing cold because the 80 degree weather was causing issues with the floor being moist.

I’ve heard from a reliable source he wants to get to 1500 games and call it quits. He should get there next I believe .

Good ole basketball season threads! “We don’t shoot well because we don’t practice here enough” and visiting team (who never set foot in the arena before tonight) ”got hot shooting 3’s” in the second half.

Completely unacceptable for this to be the product. Full stop. I had to listen myself. He had a doozy early on: He got himself so turned around trying to talk about Millikin and their distance to Peoria, he ended up basically saying the Braves were playing on the road.

Those aren't things I said, those are things our head coach said after the game. He also stopped just short of saying this was their "Super Bowl" while we didn't really care. I'm not sure if the "we don't practice here enough" is him trying to accomplish something, because he says it at the beginning of every season. Maybe the hoops at practice are two inches higher.

Boy if he thinks Bradley doesn’t practice there enough to shoot well wait until he sees how much practice time the other teams get at Carver.

The thing that kills me is Chad and him constantly trying to talk over each other. It is very difficult to just follow along and try to visualize what is happening. And the overuse of pronouns (he, they) has me lost who they are talking about half the time. I've got nothing but respect for Snell and the career he's had, but it's time for some new blood.

I didn’t listen to this game, but yeah you touch on what I would add to the topic….that it is a 2 way street and Chad does jump in and scream in our eardrums without much explanation a lot. It’s been a tough listen for a while. I don’t love harping on it too much, because it’s a bit sad, but it’s been less than it should be.

Yes, I was only intending to poke fun at the Wardle’s coach speak and not you or other posters.
