This can be for in-season updates for MVC teams.
At half Charleston is up on SIU 45-42. Charleston having a significant edge at the 3 point line so far(7-14 vs 1-9). Elijah Elliott looks the part of scorer for SIU. They are playing much faster than we’ve see SIU in a while.

SIU looks like they want to play a fast pace...beat the opponent down the floor and get lay ups or quick shots in the paint. When they were forced to set up an run an offense they struggled. They don't seem to shoot it very well from outside. SIU had the game tied at 71 all, but then they went cold and their defense went missing. College of Charleston looks to be a decent team.

Santa Clara wins. That's going to be a tough matchup for us, as they have very skilled bigs. Avila got hurt and went down when the game was close.

Illinois State loses to UT Martin 67-65 as Wolf misses a layup at the buzzer. UT Martin is picked next to last in the OVC this season.

Brutal opening night in the MVC.
6-5 overall.
Bradley had the only D1 victory. Every other win was over a non-D1.
Illinois State drops a home game to UT Martin, who was picked second to last in the OVC and has a mish-mash roster of 12 foreign players, most of which have no D1 experience.
Belmont was losing at the half to Maryville-TN (D3)
Indiana State blown out by Florida Atlantic
Valpo blown out by Liberty.
Only positives are that MSU hung with Butler and no one lost to a non-D1.

Northern Iowa is going to be really good. As is Bradley. After that - probably not anyone will be good enough.

Brutal opening night for MVC. In the D-1 games, teams were either getting blown out or losing to teams they shouldn't have (ISUr). Everyone else is playing D2 or D3 teams which doesn't really help the conference. I guess it's better than playing a 300+ RPI team.

My wishcasting that the MVC will hold up surprisingly well didn’t get off to a great start. The fact that it’s ISU and ISUb that really damaged things eases the pain a little bit.  |

If they were going to grow you'd have to believe they'd have gone after Gonzaga. They're also going to go after another Catholic school first. A10 could be our best bet. Perhaps SLU will show some growth and become that school that the Big East will go after. That would give BU a better chance of being pulled into the A10. I'm not sure how well received we'd be with the folks from Loyola. Drake is the team we'd be in a fight with. They have a football team. |

A10 or Mountain West are the most likely options, but I don't see either of them as being more than 5% probability.
