Sounds like the Gonzaga move may be contingent on them starting a football program in the next 4 years.

Good for them!
I'm always amazed at how UNLV is not desired. I know their football is practically non-existent, but their hoops is at least a name/brand, even though they are a shaddow of their former self. But there's a reason Vegas will soon have almost all the major league sports teams possible. But of course that last point just marginalizes UNLV even further, although the NBA will be the last team they land, most likely.

Which is funny because their football program appears to be doing okay for the first time in a long time, and then the QB says he's going to redshirt so he can get more NIL money next year! What a world we live in. As far as Gonzaga, I had read they were actually offered a full share despite not having a football team. That seems crazy and they would be fools not to accept it. If they have to setup a football program, that's probably a bad deal.

The article I read said that the OC promised him $100k in NIL and now the HC is saying he wasn't authorized to do that. They are only paying him $12k in NIL for his last year of eligibility. He had $500k+ offers from P5 schools but stood by his commitment to UNLV, so I can't blame him for redshirting and getting some money for his last year of college football.

Not sure of the accuracy, but I saw something out on twitter that a transfer receiver for UNLV is doing the same thing for the same reasons.

I’m not sure I believe the talk of 500K offers from P5 schools. Yeah, that somewhat sounds like agent talk, but it sounds like the kid is worth at least $100k for his last season of football and if UNLV isn't going to give it to him (after verbally offering it), I'm not going to blame the kid for sitting out and transferring.

For sure. I still don't know (and we probably won't know) what the real story is.

Gonzaga was going to have to go bigger at some time. I thought it was going to be sooner. They were fairly loyal to their Jesuit brethren.

Texas State's talk with the Mountain West have stalled and the school has informed the Sun Belt Conference that they won't be leaving.
